I am not too happy so far with my holiday eating.  Most days, I have been very careful, but on Christmas Day we went to my sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s home for dinner.  The food was delicious.  I had not eaten lunch at home — BIG MISTAKE, but remember:  FEEDBACK, NOT FAILURE — appetizers were largely […]

Time to go home.  Not such a long day.  More steps in than usual for  Monday because I had to keep going back to garage to schlep in all the gifts for peops at work.   Almost makes up for having only 8000 steps yesterday, a day when I SHOULD have had 10,000! Got some hand […]

My mom once looked at the enormous meal I had gathered onto several plates from the cafeteria-style “Bistro” at hers and my dad’s retirement community, and commented, “I don’t understant why you’re not 500 pounds.” Although piled high almost to the tipping point, my choices included fruits, salad, the cooked veggies of the day, a […]

Include fruits and veggies as often as possible, drink lots of water, and choose low cal alcohol.  Do not go to parties starving — have some high fiber snack b4 going to party.  Do not starve all day to save calories for party — it will backfire and u will overshoot 4 sure.

holidays are expensive.  Entertaining is expensive.  Try some of the produce at Costco or Sam’s Club.  Trader Joe’s has some great deals.   Buy produce on sale.  If fave items are on sale, get bunches.  Brew coffee at home and save $$$$$.

I need interaction and comments on the blog and the forum.  I am a bit lonely communicating to self.  However, I am accustomed to self-chats b/c I sometimes give myself good advice.  Don’t always listen, though.

Pollyanna: NOT!

So in reference to previous post.   I may have come off as Pollyanna-ish,  but I am not about sugar-coating.  Cynicism is my middle name and sarcasm is my game.  BUT I hate listening to whiners and do not want to be a whiner myself.  I don’t like treacle, but I like the positive energy some people exude.  […]

So often, I think about how much I love my life right now, and am grateful for everything I have.  And what do I have?  A family with a kindred-spirit husband and 3 kids whom I enjoy so much, the gift of two nurturing parents, a continually improving relationship with my brother, the good fortune […]
